The Plates
The plates used in this system are made of porcelain and are specially designed to hold the super heated volcanic roks. Choose from our elegant oval dinner platter (OV102), our square/diamond-shaped plate (SQ104), our rectangular lunch-style plate (R101) or any combination of the three. All are available in white or black. Brown is available as a special order. We also offer a beautiful bamboo plate complete with side plate and 3-compartment dipping tray. Stainless steel inserts (provided) go between the rok and plate and absorb the intense heat from the roks. Dimensions of the plates are as follows:
OV102: 17-1/2"L x 7-1/2"W
SQ104: 12"L x 10-1/2"W
R101: 12"L x 7-3/4"W
Bamboo: 15"L x 10-1/2"W (comes with side plate & 3-compartment sauce dish)
R200: 17-1/2"L x 7-1/2"W (this is a double plate that holds 2 roks - not pictured)
The Roks
The roks are specially sourced volcanic roks which are heated in our thermostatically-controlled oven to the optimal cooking temperature. We offer a “honed” finish which is a smooth, dull, satin-like finish on all sides, providing a more natural and rugged looking rok. The roks are approx. 6-3/4” square by 1-1/4” thick.
The Oven
The oven is built to hold the weight of the roks (up to 750 lbs or 108 roks) and to operate at 750 degrees Fahrenheit which is necessary to heat the stones, without breaking, to their optimal cooking temperature. It requires a fifteen amp 208-240 V, 50/60 Hz single-phase power source. Our oven is safety and sanitation certified (UL, cUL, NSF/ANSI 4 with CE & IPX4 certifications in process). The oven does not cook food and should not require a hood (may vary with local health and fire agencies).
